How do you feel about failure? About 2 years ago, I did the Ketogains bootcamp, which I highly recommend. There’s a part of the program where you essentially lift until failure, max reps. I enjoyed it, because I was done lifting that muscle for that day. I didn’t see it as a bad thing.
I’ll be honest, if it’s about money then I worry about making mistakes. That’s primarily why it took me 2-3 years to finally decide to turn what I was already doing into a business. But other than money, I don’t worry too much about failing. I don’t worry about looking silly or stupid. I mean, I prefer that pictures of me are flattering, but that doesn’t stop me from trying any activity: sky diving and trapeze are two activities I love and that did not result in flattering pictures. I will try to post some pictures on my IG. Unfortunately, right now my old computer is not cooperating.
Maybe that’s why I like to make goals frequently. I don’t worry too much about how I’ll look if I don’t do well in the beginning. This morning I was listening to Pastor Steven Furtick and Pastor Dharius Daniels. One of them, or maybe both of them, mentioned meditation. Like some of you, I grew up in the 70’s. Meditation was a new age-y thing to do so I never really wanted to try it. But I have a lot going on nowadays and I thought it might be a good idea to start my day with some quiet and focus. I try to pray regularly, but I think this would be a good addition; a way to focus on one specific aspect of my prayer time.
Today, I woke up at 4:00am, took my supplements, ate, and went to the gym. For lifting today was back day, then I did one of my two hours of cardio. I’ll do the other hour after I finish work. When I got home from the gym, I let my dog out.
Then I went to read and meditate–I failed. I never even got there. As soon as I laid down, I fell asleep for 10 minutes! I remember thinking about stuff, vaguely pondering things, but I couldn’t tell you what it was specifically. Oh well…I’ll try again tomorrow!
While we are on the topic of failure, there is someone who needs your encouragement? I don’t know who it is, but especially nowadays, people are often struggling. Is there someone you haven’t talked to in awhile? I want to encourage you to reach out to them and tell them what you appreciate about them. Make it specific: I appreciate your character, your attitude, your perspective on life. You never know if someone really needs to hear that at a given time.
And as for you, thanks for reading! It encourages me, so please let me know how I can encourage you!
